The exact access method depends on the task and hosting environment. First submit a request and wait for confirmation of the agreed scope and access requirements.

Before granting access

  • Grant access only after a specific task and scope have been agreed.
  • Prefer a temporary, named account with the minimum permissions required.
  • Use a staging copy when the task can be completed and verified there.
  • Keep a current backup and confirm who can restore it before production work.
  • Do not send passwords, private keys, database dumps or customer data through the public contact form or ordinary email. Use the secure channel agreed for the task.
  • Remove or disable temporary accounts and keys when the work is complete.

SSH access

SSH is often the most direct way to inspect application files, run approved maintenance commands and deploy a reviewed change. Your host may provide SSH key management through a control panel:

cPanel

  1. Open Security → SSH Access in cPanel.
  2. Choose Manage SSH Keys, then import the current public key supplied for your confirmed task.
  3. Authorize the imported key if cPanel requires a separate authorization step.
  4. If a firewall restricts access, allow only the source address provided in the task instructions.

SiteGround Site Tools

  1. Open Devs → SSH Key Manager.
  2. Add a named key and import the current public key supplied for the task.
  3. Provide the connection details using the agreed secure channel.
  4. Apply any required firewall allow-list entry from the task instructions.

MageMojo Stratus

  1. Open SSH → Users and create or select a dedicated user for the task.
  2. Enable the user, add the current authorized public key, and save the change.
  3. Share connection details through the agreed secure channel.
  4. Configure the host firewall allow-list if the task instructions require it.

Control-panel labels and provider workflows change. If the steps above do not match your account, ask your hosting provider for its current SSH-key procedure instead of weakening account security.

Alternatives to SSH

If SSH is unavailable, tell us which access methods your host supports. A restricted hosting panel or FTP/SFTP may be workable for a narrowly scoped task, but can limit diagnosis, backup and verification. We will confirm whether the available method is sufficient before work begins.

Access details and completion

Do not publish credentials in a request. Once the scope is confirmed, Magentary will tell you what access is needed and how to share it. Use a dedicated temporary account where possible, keep production credentials separate, and revoke temporary access after the task is verified.

Ask about access for an agreed task.
