Move an established Magento or OpenMage store to a new hosting provider without treating the move as a blind file copy. We review the source and destination, plan a staging copy and cutover, and agree how the live store will be kept consistent during the move.

This service is for transferring an existing store between hosting environments. It is not a Magento 1-to-OpenMage modernization or a Magento 2 migration; those require a separate application-upgrade scope.

If the destination has not yet been selected, start with the OpenMage hosting guide. It explains why traffic shape, extensions, database size and background work matter more than a generic “OpenMage hosting” label.

What a transfer can include

  • Review of the source and destination environments and available access.
  • A transfer plan covering application files, database, media and relevant configuration.
  • Destination compatibility checks for the existing Magento/OpenMage version and required runtime.
  • A staging copy on the destination, where the hosting setup permits it.
  • Merchant or team review of the staged store before cutover.
  • A final data synchronization, agreed DNS/domain change and post-cutover verification.
  • A maintenance window and recovery/rollback approach agreed before production changes.

The exact method depends on the store, database size, background jobs, integrations, hosting access and DNS setup. We confirm what can be tested and which parts remain the responsibility of the hosting provider or domain administrator before scheduling a cutover.

A controlled transfer process

  1. Request and discovery. Share the store URL, source and destination providers, preferred date or maintenance window, and any known constraints.
  2. Technical review. We check the available access, application/runtime compatibility, data volume, DNS ownership and destination capacity.
  3. Scope and estimate. After reviewing the request, we reply with the proposed work, price and timeline. No fixed price or completion time is promised before this assessment.
  4. Preparation and staging. Once approved, we prepare the destination and copy the store for review when the environment supports a safe staging workflow.
  5. Verification and cutover. After the staged copy is reviewed, we agree on a maintenance window, synchronize changing data, switch traffic and verify the agreed critical paths.

Request a transfer assessment

Send the store and hosting details. We review the request first and reply by email with the proposed scope, price and timeline. Do not send credentials through the form.

What we need to assess the request

Use the request form to share the public store URL, source and destination hosting providers, Magento/OpenMage version if known, approximate database or media size if available, access method, DNS responsibility and preferred maintenance window. Do not include passwords, private keys, database exports or customer data in the form. Access is arranged separately after scope is agreed.

Hosting transfers can expose existing application or infrastructure problems. If the destination cannot run the current store safely, we will flag that before the move and discuss whether remediation or modernization needs a separate scope.
